Dayton's Coalition for Youth and Families hosts a presentation of Hidden in Plain Sight every other year. Watch for it in the Spring of 2026. The teen years can be difficult. Indicators of teen drug use, mental health concerns, unhealthy relationships, human trafficking, and other risk factors can be hidden in plain sight but easy for parents and other adults to miss.
Hidden in Plain Sight is an educational experience that walks you through a typical teenage bedroom. The inside of the bedroom is set up with drug paraphernalia “Hidden in Plain Sight.” This is an interactive display/program that offers adults insights into current trends in youth substance abuse, drug paraphernalia, and concealment of illicit drugs & alcohol. Volunteers educate community members about drug trends, paraphernalia, how to talk to youth about alcohol & drugs, and what to do if a problem is suspected.
Adults all learn differently, just like youth! This presentation brings a unique opportunity to get involved with the presentation through this two-part interactive event! Come and learn what is trending with youth today and how to start conversations that are sometimes difficult but necessary.
After participating, participants will know:
When and how parents should start talking to their children about drugs;
Can you find all 70+ items? Come to a HIPS presentation near you!!
"The mission of the Coalition is to promote and support a healthy and safe environment, free from alcohol,
tobacco, and other drug misuse, violence, and related social issues affecting our youth and families."
